Getting the UPSC signature to 20 KB to 100 KB
UPSC's instructions ask you to sign three times on plain white paper in black ink, one signature below the other, and to scan all three as a single image. The file is a JPEG between 20 KB and 100 KB, and the image dimensions are given as 350 to 500 pixels, without saying whether that is the width or the height.
This page crops the image to 450 x 500 pixels where you place the crop box, so both sides fall in that range whichever one is checked. It saves it at the best quality under 100 KB, and if that comes out under 20 KB it is padded up to it with an invisible comment inside the file. The signatures are exactly the same.
Tips
- Leave a little space between the three signatures and keep them about the same width, so all three fit in the crop box.
- Take the photo straight on, close around the signatures, in good light without shadows.
- The instructions ask for the file to be named signature, so save it as signature.jpg before you upload it.
Requirements from UPSC's instructions for uploading the photo and signature, checked 18 October 2026. Forms change their rules, so check the form itself if something is rejected.
How it works

Your photo or image. It goes over an encrypted connection and nowhere else.

We find the gentlest setting that still fits, and delete everything soon after.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no watermark.
What happens to my file?
It is processed on our server and deleted automatically: the original 5 minutes after the run finishes, the compressed file after 10. A file you upload but never compress is deleted within 30 minutes. You can also delete everything right away with Delete now.
Will it look worse?
We try a lossless cleanup first, which does not change how the file looks. Only if that is not enough do we lower image quality, and we pick the gentlest setting that still fits your size.
What if my file cannot get that small?
You get the smallest version we could make and a clear note saying so, instead of a file that silently misses the limit.
Why is my file a little under the limit I picked?
Some sites count a kilobyte as 1000 bytes and others as 1024. We aim under the stricter one, so a 200 KB page aims for 200,000 bytes and the file passes either way.
