FitFileSize shrinks files that are often personal: passports, bank statements, certificates. This page says exactly what happens to them.

Your files

• Your file is uploaded to our server, compressed there, and used for nothing else.
• The original is deleted 5 minutes after the compression finishes. It is kept that long only so "Try another size" works without a second upload.
• The compressed file is deleted 10 minutes after the compression finishes.
• A file that never finishes compressing is deleted after at most 30 minutes.
• "Delete now" removes both files immediately.
• While a job exists we also store its filename, size and page count so the page can show progress. That record is deleted on the same schedule as the files.

Abuse protection

To keep the service free for everyone, each visitor can upload 30 files and run 100 compressions an hour. To count that, we keep your IP address (or, for IPv6, your network prefix) in a counter that is deleted automatically after at most one hour. It is not logged or used for anything else.

No accounts

There is no sign-up and no login. We do not ask for your name or email address.

Analytics

We count visits to learn which pages people use and how fast the site loads. None of these tools set cookies or store anything in your browser.

• Cairn, our own analytics: page views, with IP addresses hashed using a key that changes every day, so visits cannot be linked across days.

Hosting

The website is served by Vercel and the compression server runs on Render. Like any web host, they may keep short-lived request logs, such as IP addresses, for security and operations.

Tips

Leaving a tip is optional. The tip link takes you to a checkout page run by Stripe, which handles the payment and your card details under Stripe's privacy policy. We never see your card number, and tipping is not connected to any file you uploaded.
