Getting a UPPSC photo to 5 x 6 cm and under 50 KB
UPPSC's scanning guidelines ask for the photograph in true colour, 5 cm wide and 6 cm high, scanned at 200 DPI, with a file of no more than 50 KB. You upload it once in the One Time Registration, and it is used for UPPSC's exam applications.
At 200 DPI, 5 x 6 cm comes to 394 x 472 pixels. This page crops the photo to that size where you place the crop box and saves it at the best quality under 50 KB.
Tips
- Use a recent passport-size photo on a light background, and crop close around your head and shoulders.
- If you scan a printed photo, paste it on white paper and scan at 200 DPI, as the guidelines describe.
- Each UPPSC advertisement can add its own rules. If yours states a different size, change it under Change size or pixels before you compress.
Requirements from UPPSC's guidelines for scanning the photograph and signature, checked 18 October 2026. Forms change their rules, so check the form itself if something is rejected.

Questions
Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no watermark.
What happens to my file?
It is processed on our server and deleted automatically: the original 5 minutes after the run finishes, the compressed file after 10. A file you upload but never compress is deleted within 30 minutes. You can also delete everything right away with Delete now.
Will it look worse?
We try a lossless cleanup first, which does not change how the file looks. Only if that is not enough do we lower image quality, and we pick the gentlest setting that still fits your size.
What if my file cannot get that small?
You get the smallest version we could make and a clear note saying so, instead of a file that silently misses the limit.
Why is my file a little under the limit I picked?
Some sites count a kilobyte as 1000 bytes and others as 1024. We aim under the stricter one, so a 200 KB page aims for 200,000 bytes and the file passes either way.
