PDF50 KB to 300 KB

UPSC's application portal takes certificates as PDFs between 50 KB and 300 KB. A scanned certificate is often several megabytes, so it is compressed to fit under 300 KB.

Getting UPSC certificates under 300 KB

In the Common Application Form on upsconline.nic.in, the certificates you upload are PDFs between 50 KB and 300 KB. That covers the caste certificate (the EWS certificate goes in the same place), the disability certificate, the matriculation certificate and the name-change affidavit or gazette notification. The instructions say a document is not uploaded if any other file name, format or size is used.

We lower the resolution of the scan step by step and keep the first step that fits under 300 KB, so the text stays as readable as the limit allows. Real text in a PDF is never blurred, only scanned images. This page does not make a PDF bigger, so a file already under 50 KB stays as it is.

Tips

  • Name each file as UPSC lists it: caste_certificate, disability_certificate, board_certificate or name_change.
  • A certificate downloaded as a PDF can be under 50 KB. If yours is, scan the printed certificate instead, which comes out larger.
  • The photo ID is uploaded as a JPEG between 20 KB and 200 KB, not as a PDF. The UPSC photo page fits that size too.

Requirements from UPSC's instructions for uploading documents, checked 18 October 2026. Forms change their rules, so check the form itself if something is rejected.

How it works

  1. 1

    Drop your file

Your PDF. It goes over an encrypted connection and nowhere else.

  2. 2

    Check the settings

This page is set to the UPSC documents rules. Change them only if yours are different.

  3. 3

    Download it

We find the gentlest setting that still fits, and delete everything soon after.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no watermark.

What happens to my file?

It is processed on our server and deleted automatically: the original 5 minutes after the run finishes, the compressed file after 10. A file you upload but never compress is deleted within 30 minutes. You can also delete everything right away with Delete now.

Will it look worse?

We try a lossless cleanup first, which does not change how the file looks. Only if that is not enough do we lower image quality, and we pick the gentlest setting that still fits your size.

What if my file cannot get that small?

You get the smallest version we could make and a clear note saying so, instead of a file that silently misses the limit.

Why is my file a little under the limit I picked?

Some sites count a kilobyte as 1000 bytes and others as 1024. We aim under the stricter one, so a 200 KB page aims for 200,000 bytes and the file passes either way.
